Coral Reef Rehab Collaborative Platform
In May 2017, I photographed the South Sea Reef Rehab project on Boayan Island, western Palawan.
Working with corporate partners, Palawan Cove Development, the project has created a one-hectare coral garden within a 65-hectare marine protected area. Since they began in 2012 they have transformed an underwater area that was barren from decades of overfishing and environmental destruction into a thriving coral garden with fishes, reef sharks and other marine life such as critically endangered hawksbill turtles returning to the bay.
I have created an online platform where people from different fields can come together to view and comment on the images.
The aim is to provide a space for interaction between photography, science and the divers who take care of the reef on an everyday basis.
