The seashores of Liberty Puloy are home to a tight-knit Visayan-speaking community, originally from Zamboanga del Norte, who travelled by banca and settled here during the 1980s. They are mostly relatives, who have lived by the sea and relied on fishing for generations.

Each evening fruit bats or flying foxes (Pteropus vampyrus) migrate from Bat Island in Honda Bay to spend the night feeding on mainland Palawan. 

A rare and isolated rainstorm reaches northern Palawan during this incredibly dry monsoon season caused by a strong El Niño in the tropical pacific. Prediction models indicate that this weather pattern may last until June 2016 – and is comparable or may even surpass the 1997-98 El Niño event.
