Palawan is now in the thick of monsoon season or Tag Ulan. Last summer much of the Philippines was affected by a drought caused by the El Niño condition in the tropical Pacific Ocean. Thankfully, although the El Niño is still strengthening, rains are now reaching Palawan. During the dry season some homes had no water for over two months. As sources dried up, water diviners searched for new springs and families dug new, deeper wells. Now, although this is the second month of rains, sources in San Fernando have yet to recover to usable levels.
